Privacy Policy
What's It Worth? ("the app," "we," "us"), operated by PUPPY BIRD ENTERPRISE INC, helps you identify items and estimate their resale value. This policy explains exactly what data the app handles, where it goes, and what is kept. We designed the app to collect as little as possible.
The short version
- You don't create an account. We don't ask for your name, email, phone, or address inside the app.
- The photos and text you submit for a scan are sent to our processing service and to our AI provider to produce your result, and are not stored on our servers afterward.
- Your scan history, saved/pinned scans, and your "about me" sourcing profile stay on your device — they are not uploaded to us.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites, do not use advertising, and do not use third-party analytics or crash-tracking SDKs.
- We do not collect your location.
What we handle, and why
Photos and text you submit (scan photos, captions, Dive Deeper chat, your sourcing profile, and context from your recent scans)
When you run a scan or chat about an item, the app sends your photos and text to our backend (hosted on Cloudflare Workers), which forwards them to our AI provider, Anthropic, to identify the item and generate guidance, and sends short text search queries derived from the item to SerpAPI (which queries Google Shopping, eBay, and Google) to gather comparable prices.
- Purpose: app functionality (producing your identification, price estimate, and conversation) only.
- Storage: our backend does not store your photos or text — it passes them through in real time to produce the result. Anthropic and SerpAPI process this data as our service providers and may retain it briefly under their own policies; we do not use it for advertising and it is not used to build a profile of you. Anthropic does not use data submitted through its commercial API — including your photos and text — to train its AI models. Photos are compressed on your device before sending, which removes embedded metadata such as GPS location.
- On your device: your scan history, saved/pinned scans, the photos you attach in Dive Deeper chats, your sourcing profile, and your free-scan count are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to us.
Subscription and purchase data
If you subscribe, purchases are processed by Apple (via the App Store / StoreKit) and managed through RevenueCat, our subscription provider. RevenueCat receives your purchase history, subscription status, product identifiers, and transaction information, associated with an anonymous app-user identifier it generates and a device identifier — not your name or email (we never provide those).
- Purpose: app functionality (unlocking and restoring your subscription) and our own subscription analytics.
- Storage/retention: RevenueCat and Apple retain purchase records under their respective policies.
Technical and operational data
- Cloudflare (our hosting/CDN) processes standard request information such as IP address and timestamps to deliver and secure the service, and retains limited error logs that contain no photos, text, or personal content.
- Expo / EAS processes over-the-air update checks (e.g., app version and platform) so the app can receive updates.
What we do NOT collect
We do not collect: your location; contact information (name, email, phone, address); health, financial, or other sensitive information; your contacts; browsing history; or device advertising identifiers. The app contains no advertising, no third-party analytics SDKs, and no crash/performance-tracking SDKs.
Tracking
We do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, and we do not share your data with data brokers. The app does not request App Tracking Transparency permission because it does not track you.
Third parties who process data for us
- Anthropic — AI processing of submitted photos and text.
- SerpAPI, and through it Google and eBay — comparable-price lookups from short, item-derived search queries.
- RevenueCat and Apple (StoreKit) — subscriptions and purchases.
- Cloudflare — hosting, request delivery, and security.
- Expo / EAS — app delivery and over-the-air updates.
Each acts as our service provider and processes data to operate the app, not for their own advertising.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
Because your scan history, saved scans, and profile live on your device, you can remove them by deleting them in the app or uninstalling it. For subscription management, use your Apple account settings. To request deletion of subscription records held by RevenueCat, contact us.
Changes
We may update this policy; we will revise the effective date above when we do.
