What the app does
What's It Worth? helps users identify items from photos and estimate resale value. Users can take or upload item photos, add optional text details, ask follow-up questions, and receive AI-assisted item identification, resale estimates, confidence notes, and comparable-market context.
What's It Worth? is not a certified appraisal service. Values are estimates for informational use only.
Information we collect
Photos and item images
When you take or upload a photo for a scan, the image is sent to our backend so the app can analyze the item and generate a result. Photos are compressed on your device before sending, which removes embedded metadata such as GPS location.
Text you provide
You may optionally provide captions, item notes, follow-up details, or messages such as condition, markings, measurements, provenance, or other information relevant to the item. This text is used to generate or improve the scan result.
Scan-related app activity
The app may process scan prompts, item descriptions, follow-up context, and generated result context needed to provide the app's core functionality.
Purchase and subscription information
If you subscribe, purchase information and entitlement status are processed through the applicable app store and RevenueCat. This can include subscription product identifiers, purchase status, renewal status, and entitlement status.
On iOS, purchases are handled by Apple through App Store in-app purchase.
On Android, purchases are handled by Google through Google Play Billing.
RevenueCat is used to manage subscription entitlement state, including whether your subscription unlocks unlimited scans.
User IDs and device or app identifiers
RevenueCat may generate or use anonymous app user identifiers and device or app identifiers to manage subscriptions, purchases, restore purchases, entitlement status, and related subscription analytics.
Local-only information
Some information stays on your device, including local scan history, saved scan records, profile text, and free-scan counts. Local-only information is not transmitted to our servers unless you choose to use a feature that sends related content for analysis.

Service providers
We use service providers to operate the app.
Cloudflare
Scan requests are sent through our Cloudflare Worker backend. The backend helps route requests securely and prevents the app from calling AI or search services directly.
Anthropic
Photos and text related to scan analysis may be sent to Anthropic so the app can generate AI-assisted item identification, pricing reasoning, and follow-up responses. Anthropic does not use data submitted through its commercial API — including your photos and text — to train its AI models.
SerpAPI
Search and comparable-market queries may be processed through SerpAPI to help find market information and resale context. Queries may be generated from the app's analysis of the item.
RevenueCat
RevenueCat helps manage subscription products, purchase state, entitlement status, restore purchases, and subscription-related records.
Apple and Google
On iOS, purchases are processed by Apple through App Store in-app purchase.
On Android, purchases are processed by Google through Google Play Billing.
Apple and Google may process payments, refunds, receipts, subscription renewals, and account-level billing records under their own policies.
Data sharing
We share information only as needed to provide the app's functionality, operate subscriptions, process purchases, provide support, comply with law, or protect the app and users.
We do not sell user data.
We do not share data with advertisers.
We do not use user data for third-party ad targeting.
Data retention
Scan photos and text sent for analysis are processed to provide app results and are not stored on our servers afterward. Local scan history and saved scans remain on your device unless you delete them or uninstall the app.
Subscription and purchase records may be retained by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat according to their own legal, billing, tax, fraud-prevention, and platform requirements.
Data deletion
You can delete local scan history, saved scans, profile text, and local app data from within the app where those controls are available, or by uninstalling the app.
To request deletion of data associated with subscription records or other data handled through our service providers, contact us at:
Please include the platform you used, iOS or Android, and any relevant purchase or support information. Do not send payment card numbers. We may need limited information to locate the relevant subscription or support record.
Some billing, tax, fraud-prevention, platform, or legal records may be retained by Apple, Google, RevenueCat, or Puppy Bird Enterprise Inc. where required by law or platform policy.
Children
What's It Worth? is intended for users 18 and older. The app is not designed for children and is not directed to children.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. Data transmitted between the app and our backend or service providers is transmitted using encrypted connections where supported. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
International processing
Service providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
